Check your modem settings and see if you have telnet enabled on port 23 there. That was the problem I was running across with mine. The router was set up properly but the modem wasn't allowing telnet connections to come through. So all I could do was connect from within the local network but not through the internet. Once I set up the telnet server in the modem, everything worked fine. _________________ Ragtop

Many linksys routers managment runs on 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.0.3 you may want to try those for management of the linksys. Check on thier support bbs for the correct management address. You may also have to assign a mac address to the IP you run the bbs on, then allow traffic to it. _________________ Stoneslinger

if you're using DSL be sure to forward ports 1-65535 to the IP of the linksys router.
also are you having problems from remote or just locally, meaning you can telnet to 192.168.1.xxx but cannot telnet to your WAN ip, this could possibly be b/c of loopback problems.
try having someone else telnet in.
regarding linksys, yes you turn port 23 TCP on and direct it to the WG box.
make sure no firewalls are blocking incoming. |
