<< HERE'S WHERE YOU SHOULD PUT SOME INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CONFIGURATION >>

For example...

Hardware Configuration
----------------------

This system runs on a standard IBM compatible PC. We use the following
communications technology:

o GalactiBox - a chassis for up to 16 standard internal PC modem
                  cards, serial cards, etc.
o GalactiBoards - eight port serial cards
o Supra 28.8 V.fast Fax Modems
o Supra 14.4 V.32bis Fax Modems
o Novell LAN - SPX and TCP/IP communications
o OST PCXNet Card and GDC Desktop 500A DSU - DDS access to X.25
o Morning Star Express Router and Astrocom CSU/DSU - T1 access to the
                                                        Internet

Most of our employees extensively use this system for customer support
and service. They use SPX connections over our Novell LAN.

Our particular system configuration happens to be a 90MHz Pentium with 16
megs of RAM connected to our Novell LAN, although any standard 386-based
(or better) PC-compatible with at least 4 megs of RAM will run The Major
BBS. We also have a 1GB IDE hard disk, and a 25" Sony Trinitron monitor.

The connections to the phone lines are accomplished by means of ordinary
RJ-11 cables... one cable and one modem per phone line. Our lines are all
"hunt-grouped", so that all lines are accessible at a single phone number.

Software Configuration
-----------------------

This software is running under standard MS-DOS V6.2. The key software
package that makes it all possible is The Major BBS. We also have most
of the Galacticomm Add-On Options installed.

Tim Stryker and colleagues have written all of the software you are using
here: The Major BBS, FAX/Online, Dial-Out, Major Gateway/Internet and all
the other Add-Ons. The software is written mostly in C using the Borland
C++ V3.1 compiler. Some of the code is written in assembler. A two-user
copy of The Major BBS, suitable for use with any Hayes-compatible modem, is
available for $259 from Galacticomm Inc., 4101 SW 47th Ave., Suite 101,
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33314.

Other software we use: Btrieve, a database record manager available from
Btrieve Technologies, Inc., and KEDIT, a great text editor developed by
The Mansfield Software Group. Neither package is required to run The Major
BBS.
