Unfortunately, due to an ISP error, the changeover did not occur seamlessly however it is now resolved and access should be available.

Please note that at 10:30AM EST TODAY we are changing ISPs on the server hosting the official demo BBS (bbs.themajorbbs.com). This will result in a loss of connection for any users online at the time and may cause intermittent connectivity issues until DNS propagates the changes.

If you are looking for a way to import (pull) Usenet groups (NNTP) then a utility has been written and can be found here: https://github.com/TheMajorBBS/NNTPImporter

This means you do not require a host that will push an NNTP feed to you.

No idea to be honest.. maybe a disgruntled GCOMM employee during the final days?

The ghosting issue is strange but not surprising given the layering of Teleconference modules, where GALTELE sits on top of GALTLC and GALTLCW sits on top of GALTELE. It's a minefield.

I'm surprised Teleconference works at all half the time!
