so few years ago I opted not to port galactic empire and instead to a tear dow and rewrite using the same code just a different approach to some things Murdock did. His code is great it just doesn't port well so im using some methods introduced later on that are working really good.
I do not have a definitive date when you can grab a copy on wgnt but to reply to a few emails I got on my forums last couple weeks it is coming soon. if I had to guess production I would say we are about 60% complete with no crashes thus far.
any GE veterans please drop me an inbox so I can get you to test the game well. now I have been questioned on if I will be releasing this source code since Murdock did release it under the GNU public release license and I am holding off answering that until I have a fully completed project.
but know it is still coming, I like to bounce around between all my projects to keep may mind fresh and not burn out.

I actually have a working GE port that needs polish - I should put it out there.

it is heavily requested, and i do mean heavily. its a major bbs version of global war/bre/sre type game, never played it personally but i always hear about it.

Yes, I know. I'm just super careful to not do things that I don't have rights to. I'll ping the author again and see if he'd be okay with me doing something with it.

it was release open source though right? at least the one someone sent me was tagged with the gnu open source agreement.

Yes, but he still owns the rights. That's a license to use, but he retained ownership of course.

who you know with hvs? I got the global destruction source but no clue who gave it to me.

anyhow.... so open source releases means source has to be with it right?
or is it only if you distribute the binary you have to include the source?

I'd have to read the license. Derivative works usually require source in GPL 3.

HVS... stay tuned ;-)
