Just as a point of interest, MajorMUD can be converted from Btrieve to Pervasive SQL (PSQL) and it works great. This would allow you to expose the data for your realm without the need for someone to log on. I do not know if existing realms can be converted but I do know it can be done on a fresh rea...

Re: Turbosentry
That would be great. I've tried contacting them myself, but the only email address I can find is for turbosentry and that's out of commission. If you can get hold of them and get permission, I'll put the turbosentry site back online and run it from my server. I normally see him 3 or 4 times a week....

Thats too bad it sounded very interesting, any chance any part of it is stable enough to release and also and editor with it so Sysop's could work on it? I asked Merlin if he would consider releasing the source code for what he has done so far. Even had a C# programmer lined up to pick up the proje...

Rick the information I'm getting is that nobody at Multiservice (The parent company of Metro) even knew what Metro was really 2 days ago. The company is not listed in their roster, and none of the employees of Metro are on their payroll anymore. The people at Multiservice are supposedly talking to S...

According to rumors on a MUD related forum, Metropolis may not actually exist anymore. Conversations with the parent company have shown that Shannon no longer works there, and her entire department was disolved. yeah for WG we would do this using active-html and java applets possibly for the live stuff. all you need is someone to write to a datafile maybe and you could have your API open the database and retrieve the data. we wouldnt even be restricted to btrieve i can use GALSQL to export to SQL-lite. Gre...

Assuming you have a local network here. If so, you can try adding in the SPX/IPS protocols on your network adaptor so they can handle your local network traffic. Takes some of the workload of the TCP/IP and has been known to help with fussy telnet connections. If this doesn't help, perhaps some more...

I need a WG Developer who knows MajorMUD databases
I have a project I am working on (several actually) for GreaterMUD realms. I would like to port some of them over to work with WorldGroup MajorMUD systems. I would like to find a developer who's willing to design the server side program required to make these projects work. Someone who's willing to ...

If you have a static IP, then you can set it up yourself easily. Both GoDaddy and Yahoo have low cost domain options. I've seen some bad press about GoDaddy and holding domains hostage though, and I know at least one person who has had that happen. I'd use Yahoo Domains. First year is cheap, renewal...

One big concern I've had since starting the WG BBS is that if a user accidently says NO to ANSI at signup, I cannot for the life of me find a way or where to change it to turn ANSI back on. My understanding is this: Right now TGS/GM does not support RLOGIN. However the idea has been brought up, and I believe we plan on putting in support for it. It may not be a V1.0 feature since our primary focus is on the game engine rather than the abilities of the game server right now. Not really ...
