Post by jvronis »

What is the method and suggested configuration of setting a XP pc to load Wg 2.0 to run at startup?

Hunt around the forums here thier maybe some info how. I have never tried wg 2 in xp, but think the packet driver may be a bit of challenge to get working in xp. You might find a WG2 manual on http://www.gcommarchive.com/ not sure if he ever got it scanned, its about 550 pages so a ton of work to scan.

i advise against it, you can get it to work just fine but your users will experience heavy lag.

i run my wg 2.0 box under win98 forced to a dos startup.

config.sys
=======
files=50
buffers=15
stacks=16,256
devicehigh=c:\windows\ansi.sys
devicehigh=c:\windows\system\himem.sys

autoexec.bat
========
@echo off
LH %LSL%\lsl.com
LH %3COM%\3c90x.com
LH %WG20%\odipkt.com
LH %3COM%\3c90xpd.com /I=0x60
CD \%WGSERV%
BBS go

i run worldgroup 2.0, MajorTCP/IP, 256 user license, and 24 addons with zero lag. (even with 40 users online all scripting TA3)

when using GALICO i found there was alot of lag due to packet loss, majortcp/ip cleared that problem right on up

sorry i havent had a chance to get back to ya been getting Tele-arena and XanthaMud geared up for release.

first thing we need to do is get ya going with a worldgroup 2.0 fresh install.
