Would like to see Support for WATT TCP in MBBS 6.5

Post by nitromike2006 »

Hey all:

Still working with putting my old school BBS online and I have really appreciated the help that this community has provided as I work on the project. I am very disheartened by the Vircom stack limitations and would like to see us put native support for the Watt TCP stack somehow into the MBBS 6.5. I know this may not be feasible, but if it can be done,I would like to see it happen.

Thanks,

Mike Needham

Hi Dan:

I am not really running into any overflows, just not impressed with the Vircom stack at all ;-)

Also, have not sure how to make the ico work... this is MBBS 6.25 not WG.

If I can get most of my channels on telnet, that would be great.

My grand plan is to keep one channel as direct connect (null modem) and most of them open to Telnetting in (would prefer SSL if I can figure out how to do it)... and then one channel for Fidonet mail... but that is another bird altogether.

BTW: While I know that this area is NOT the support area, thought I would ask if MBBS is okay on a 200 Mhz or better processor? Getting hard to find sub 200 Mhz pentiums ;-)

Well, I am not sure if Vircom TCP and Major TCP are the same animal or not, but the Vircom 2.10 is expensive and I was told that even with a certain haxie installed, it only deals with incoming Telnet only.

I want to incorporate the entire Internet connectivity.

I know I can obtain the ICO from places, but so far it has been a little touchy in practice.

This is why I would like to see an "interface" from MBBS to WATT TCP.

no they are wrong even using the hex fix you get rlogin and telnet in and out, smtp,pop3,ftp,finger,irc and http.
problem is most people that cracked vircom's product know nothing about it a little reading would have shown them how to enable all that from within the doc files :)

send me a PM ill get ya going.
