Going back online

Post by hiwayman »

I ran a worldgroup system for customer support. I started out with WG1.01, went to 3.0 then 3.1. I shut the system down and migrated to linux based programs about the time with the problems with gcomm, netvillage, etc.

I recently started considering bring worldgroup back online as a vmware appliance using a compaq cl380. I did a search to see if there was any activity on worldgroup and was happy to find this forum.

Worldgroup was fairly trouble free and had some capabilities that I have not found in any other programs.

Actually, WG also runs just fine with Microsoft's Virtual PC 2007. I've had a test system up for several months now without a hitch. MS's VM isn't as configurable as VMWare's, but for a straight forward web/telnet access it works fine.

The test install went fine with no problems, and I see no slowdown in performance. I well be moving the appliance to the cl380 sometime this week.
