Post by hojo79 »

I was wondering how i can test my server? Now i have it set up and i am able to log on using the intranet (192.168.1.150) but i wanna see if others outside can log on that way how do i try it. I have tried to use my IP but does not connect. Anyone also know ho to get a free Domain for the BBS?

Secondly i have a full version of t-lord and TW 2002 gold how do i go about plugging it into my BBS software(Major BBS).

I use dyndns works great and they also have a tsr you can run on your computer to update your ip automatically when your IP changes. Just set up you domain name, then set your ip to send traffic to.

You can pick from numerous .____ and register the name or use the free .dyndns.org (others .___ available)
The service works great, I have had my isp change my IP over 50 times in a day and didnt even drop any online users when IP updates.

http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/readme.html

their are other similar services.

Once you have that setup check you router and WG config.

Set your router to send inbound calls to your WG server IP# 192.168._._
port 23 telnet
port 80 web/http
port 443 https
port 21 ftp
port 53 dns
port 25 smtp

You can change any or all of these ports I have listed common defualt ports. BE SURE your Worldgroup conifguration is set to listen on those ports conifged in your router.

You should be able to telnet to yourname.dyndns.org or yourname.com

As for the Game server question you will have to run it on onther computer and use it as a door game server, Login thru rlogin or telnet from the wg server. Thier is a few post on how do this, search themajorbbs.com forums on "game server" or "door game".
