Don't give it any praise yet. I typed it from a yellow notepad that contained ramblings of a madman. It drove me nuts for about a week and it's one of those things where I threw many solutions at it and may not be 100% sure which one solved it.
It's a good start for sure. If you get that far I can probably help you finish it out if I missed something.

That's changing. As more things get in the hands of those of us in the community, most modules are free and those that are charge (donations) are significantly cheaper than they ever were in the heyday. The only reason I charge anything at all is because it's cost me tens of thousands of dollars to acquire the rights to Galacticomm and some ISVs. I was hoping most of it would get donated, but it didn't turn out that way.bigbluezuk wrote:I wrote an NNTP toss specifically for dovenet a few years ago and it was working nicely. Let me dig and see if I can find it.
I hate to offer anything free because everyone in the Worldgroup Niche tends to want $9000,0000,000 for everything. I might work with some trades or something.
which i think is a crock of BS they want a kings ransom for it and if ya dont pay it they got no problem with it sitting idle, if they only knew people will still play/use their product, me personally when im too old to do any of this or if it gets too boring for me i will gladly submit all my sources to one company to distribute freely or just put it all online for people to freely download, if more people would work together e would have a much busier community.Questman wrote:That's changing. but in all reality i think what me and you have done personally in the last 7 years just with what we've got our hands on now it has definately kept WG chugging along and not dead if not for the things that have happened including our small disagreements i think this product would have died a long time ago.
and i take no credit from anyone else with the "me and you" statement, everyone has contributed in a large way.
I've been sending a lot of players to the elwynor.com website lately to grab a 4-user version of worldgroup for free... the people looking to do something actually get excited they can play around and tinker for free without having to worry about some crack pack loaded with junk screwing up their machine...dspain wrote:

So the strategy works, just a matter of making things work easy and right the first time to keep them around to tinker more... not sure how much will turn into sales with there still being roadblocks but, more of the old crowd is likely to come back now that the kids are grown heh.
