Hi,
I am going to 1 IP number from having 5 and was wondering how to configure so my servers so they can all use one ip.
My router does have port forwarding,I have 2 wg borads,1 door server and 1 TWGS
The problem is will I still be able to have 2 wg bbses and a synchronet bbs running on port 23, will i have to shut 2 down?
Ive heard that it maybe possible to have wg's telent listen on another port or is it hardwired to port 23?
Any help would be appreciated

If you want to handle port forwarding at the server level instead of at the router level, take a look at a product called Surrogate Socket from CornerPost Software. It is the only actual port forwarding service I've ever come across for Windows servers. It might give you a few ideas anyway.

The price is just under $250, which is excellent considering what you can do with it. The download is nice and small, just over 5mb.

You can install it on any 32-bit Windows server, it runs as a service. It's very handy, its saved my butt a few times in the past before I moved up to a Cisco PIX firewall that allowed for port forwarding. I still keep this software laying around in my arsenal. Though it was made for NT4 (and it shows), it runs great under 2000 and 2003 as well. One of my favorite networking utilities of all time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: After installation, there is a few settings changes you must make or it wont work properly. This will save you some phone calls to tech support. Go to the settings tab. Set the "Less memory" slider bar to go all the way to the far left. Also, the "more clients" slider bar needs to be set to go all the way to the far right. Then set the "connect time" adjustment to 999 and then check the box that says "automatically synchronize system time with internet time host" (and choose a host near you). After you have done this, "cycle" Surrogate Socket for the changes to go into effect. I found that manually stopping and restarting the service sometimes worked better than the "Cycle" button. Also, the product makes use of the default VB5 installer, so uninstallation needs to be watched very carefully (dont let it uninstall any system files other than Surrogate Socket files). I had to make a few phone calls to tech suppport to get all that worked out, and then it worked great.

Hope this might be of help. The reason I offer it is that you can run it locally right on the BBS server itself and bounce things around very nicely.

I use one IP and run TWGS, a Java based server and two WG systems. I use port forwarding via a router. I also believe dspain has a mod that lets WG listen on alternate ports, you might want to PM him.

Care to say how you have all those set up using one ip and a router?
I have a 2wire Brand router.I know you can forward like say telnet to port 23 on a certain computer, how do you telnet port 23 to two different computers?

I have the router (telnet 23) going to my main BBS which is a WG 3.2 system, which has menu choices to telnet and/or Rlogin to my other servers.

But you are right, you can't send the same port to two different computers. If you want direct access, I believe dspain has a mod to WG that lets you change the incoming telnet port.

On the other hand, except for WG, TWGS and your other server/programs should let you change the incoming telnet port. I use 2222 for one TWGS and 4444 for another one.

Thanks for you help Hopefully I will get everything back online.
How about that Dan do you have a mod that lets wg 3.30 use a different port
for telnet?

yes he does, he modded the telnet and rlogin moduals
to accept any port number.
