He will likely give a discount for you reging the older version so recently.

I am running a prerelease version and it has greatly impressed me so far. It runs along Worldgroup and rlogin very well. The performance of gameplay is much improved, as is the configuration and ship editor.

Some new features include 30,0000 sectors, editable ships you can add new classes of ships and edit ferrengi's 4 ship classes and their are 4 Alien Derilect's.

I will post a more info about gameplay and how it compares to the multiplayer HVS version for WG/Mbbs.

Ah... memories.
I had many sleepless nights waiting for the MBBS extern to run (was usually 4am my time).

I have the licenses for the original single line BBS versions, both 1.03 and 2.00.

EIS and JP are getting very close to a Public Release of the new TWGS. It is a complete new 32 bit engine and many new features. 30k sector universe, live edits of ships, users and aliens. Create additional ships, even hunt down the Alien Derilect and more. The performance problems of the old twgs are gone and runs right along worldgroup 3nt useing Rlogin to access twgs.

Yes you are correct their, JP is NOT giving out any discount's for those of us who already own 100's of user licences of HVS tw. Hopefuly he will change his mind. I own TW 2002 v1, v2, HVS TW for dos/major(256user) and hvs for WG NT(256user), never purchsed twgs. I did purchase a small number of game slots and channels of the new TWGS v2.

The new TWGS v2 priceing: $2.00/game slots and $3.00/ node or user channel.

The release date is very close.

As for the possibility of a Tradewars 2002 v4 for WG NT it maybe a reality JP has stated his intention is to do a new version for WG NT when he gets twgs v2 released.

Just to give you all an update on the new TWGS version from EIS.

Many new features like custom created alien races, ship editor/creator, set the response timings for all things in the game so it perform's as you like to name a few. It's almost a sysop's configuration dream. Almost every aspect the game of the game can be configured by the sysop options and has beeen added into configuration or been revamped to make it completely configurable to each sysop's own preferances. I will post some screen caps in the next day or two of some sysop config menu's.

Running behind Worldgroup 3nt, the new TWGS (TradeWars Game Server) can allow for user's to run and manage thier own games. I am still testing this process with EIS, but you basically make a gameop class account similar to a majormud op or twgameop and they are the only user who can acess the config of thier personal game. It relies on a password set localy (only) by the sysop. The user can big bang make ships and config changes to thier hearts content, while not acceesing the root or other games.

If you want to check out the new version its online at
telnet://theswampbbs.net
online scores and info
http://theswampbbs.net
Yes it even outputs scores for use with your worldgroup bbs
