The more options off the main BBS instead of going into a doors server the better. Would be nice to run my BRE and FE leagues off the actually WG BBS instead of having to go to a doors server first

We have been working on it, you will probably need to get the rlogin beta Dspain has been working on. It passes a bbs "tagname" along when a connection is made. ie
RLOGIN Client Connect to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX with [swampbbs]username
is what you'd see in the audittrail.
Would be to much to open up a port for you to connect to either twgs directly or to the bbs so your users could access the HVS Trade Wars game also. Let me know if your interested in send tw players this way.
It is also possible to allow remote admin of a game in twgs, but the last time I allowed a user to have thier own game it didn't work out to good.
It works fine, to bad the user turned out to be not of the best intentions.
I have been meaning to get my old Barren Realms game back up, but maybe easier to send that traffic your way.
All you would need to do on your end is create a menu command, rlogin module and set a few rlogin command options so user name is passed correctly.
Will send you a pmail with my email address.

off the main bbs vs a door server first are about the same with the the old inter-bbs games since they were single player games where you expended turns and played on a team.
to be honest it would be easier for me to remake that game for wg than it would to make some kind of portal to play dos games from within wg.
alot of those games i know the author and he would probabbly not care, where it gets funny is interbbsing from worldgroup.
its best to stick with native software for those old interbbs games
like immortal combat, sre, bre, fe, fh, arrowbridge, etc.....

I must agree, altho twgs would be very easy to get accepting rlogin from other bbs's. Just make and inbound traffic rule for router+switch with additional MAC+Domain Name security rule (accept only from....)
This would bypass wg and allow only specific bbs's to connect to twgs.
I would much rather see them play the HVS version of TW.
I asked John Daily a couple years ago about you porting his Global War (risk) and possible others like Barren Realms to WG. I guess he never got in touch with you, he seemed interested.

DMA servers required a static ip address. Other than that, I really don't see why someone hasn't created a synchronet 'DMA' server which doesn't require a static IP. After all, the synchronet source code is freeware, and other than creating a unique member/bbs ID in synchronet, it needs to allow a door name passthru from rlogin to go directly into the specific doorgame.
I asked the creator of Synchronet about something like this long ago, and he told me that it would be easy to modify the rlogin server but he didn't see interbbs gaming as something worth pursuing and didn't plan to add the support himself. Since I wasn't a programmer myself, I then changed course and contacted the GameSrv programmer, and he eventually agreed to add something like this. Unfortunately, the idea must have lost some steam over the years, and it didn't happen.
For the part of the BBS user, seamless integration is an important aspect of the experience. Feeling like you have to log on to a totally different BBS defeats the purpose.
With that being said, is someone working on creating a product that will take the place of DMA servers? Or is this just about doing it for door games?

a very easy generic dma for synchronet:
create a dma.js and have it run at login
this javascript module would intercept strings in the name
so intercept the name and grab the added string
"Sysop_LORD" it will grab everything after _ and will
run the extern LORD
mod the wg rlogin client like i did so add an extra option -D<TEXT>
so you go:
/rlogin -dLORD
dma.js intercepts the name parses it and does all the work.

im not the author, i just threw in some ideas then wrote my own very buggy underlying system, wg was never meant to break the 256 user gap so having 2 seperate wg installs looking at each other requires rewriting every individual piece, it all started out as a joke and then added a little of this and a little of that and here we are, lets face it when will we ever need that extra space for that 257th user?
