Tele-Arena Addon Complete

the Tele-Arena project has been completed, the engine was finalized today with just a few traces of some small stuff i wanna finish.
i got some new areas and runes i will be adding into the database over the next few weeks to give users some new stuff to do, with the new SQLite database system i wrote for it data can be added to the database and all a gameop has to do is type "reinit" and its instantly available, so no more reboots which if you are running majormud tends to piss people off.
right now i cannot offer you a date on when you can purchase it cause all that is handled privately with Rick however a beta will be online for anyone to play so you can see it in action and well enjoy the game of Tele-Arena, i personally walked and got all of the runes up to violet with no issues and had a friend of mine script a rogue from level 1 to promotion with no problems as well so in my eyes it is a ready to go product.
there are a few minor issues which i will post at the bottom, and i did change some things from the original that i felt were instability issues or just should have been done differently and the end result was a very stable gaming engine that i am overly happy with.
the minor issues i noticed were:
you can get the green rune scrolls even if the monster is not in its lair (this will be changed)
monsters that are not carrying gold but are supposed to give lair gold do not (very minor)
players can still break runes for other players by simply walking in the room and if they already have the rune it will use it up for the day (i will change this so you have to need the rune to activate it)
i have not tested anything in the stone passages or dwarven kingdoms.
the maps sent to me for fire catacombs and ice palaces are being reviewed for game balance.
monster followers have no AI yet and wont follow you (gonna fix this in a few days)
thats what i have found so far.
anyone interested in testing the editor let me know, the editor has 3 forms, the terminal form i which it runs like a module on the bbs anyone with the key can enter and begin editing content as long as they have the keys to do so (you can key off every editor option individualloy if you want) and it has an active-html form which runs like a module but is accessed through the worldgroup web server (user logon and worldgroup security key system are in effect) and both the web and terminal forms talk to each other to keep order within the database, and finally there is a standalone version that runs outside of the bbs and can be used to edit the databases without the bbs but this is a single user application.
right now pricing is unavailable and the editor will be a seperate purchase
prices will be set once all the legal mumbo jumbo is out the way but dont fret cause until thats done you may not be able to buy it but you can certainly enjoy playing it.

Excellent progress. I'm hoping once we sort the code out completely and it's working 100% we can perhaps extend the map and do some work toward adding more stuff. Will get with you ASAP - sorry, I know I'm slow.

yeah i got tied up too with some stuff, so its been slower than normal the past month or so i got the new maps and stuff but cant add em til i finish the editor, so ......

Hey Dan you do realize that those are areas from my Tele-Arena, but you didnt mention the Dwarven Tower and one other section. It used to be great to have a completly different game from everyone else and then this happens !
Guess that was a mistake sending you my .mcv's to try and fix my editor.
If any one wants to see the maps to get a jump on this Google
telearena gold and the fist 2 entries are my game maps with these areas in, for many years.
Not real happy about this.

the dwarven tower from ta97? i got permission directly from sylvain durocher to duplicate anything from within ta97 as long as i specify that vircomm is in no way affiliated with its production and give credit where cresdit is due in their creation, as for copying MCVs you realize im using a completely different method to load data so any of your MCVs wouldnt load anyhow, looking at your maps now the ice palace, that also is the name of a ta97 area so dont come in here calling plagurism i got every map from the ta97 universe and we are working it into my database with the authors approval, so anythign you did that resembles their work its just coincidence and im sure they would not be happy about you calling it your own.
so what you need to do is wait for my printed versions of the maps and then create an argument not come in here guns a blazing only to leave looking like an idiot.

and another thing is you need to learn to read, i said i am reviewing maps sent to me for game balance, i will repeat SENT TO ME, meaning i didnt copy anything, i am only using maps from the ta97 universe and the tele-arena platinum universe, so if it was not in any of those 2 games
it does not go in my game
dwarven kingdoms ..... it may be what you call an area but i am referring to the stone passages that came stock in 5.6d gold which is the data i used in my engine creation.

yes i am sorry but i have to be very defensive, last thing i need is a contraversy with this thing about to be released publicly, i would say it is more of a wording issue than a coincidence, ta97 ran from 1996-2001 and i have spoken with some of those devleopers since and got their entire map collection, alto of the areas you have are named the same but very difference, example is your ice palace looks like another labyrinth type area whereas my ice palace is 865 rooms spread out like the swelts, so same name diff layout, as for Ron's version using your info, well last i checked the java ether engine had the ability to load the actual MSG file whereas my engine cannot load MCV data at all it loads an sqlite database which i originally loaded with stock 5.6d gold data and had to format to fit my needs, and my database was originalyl created from stock DBF files so any newly made DBF files or MCV/MSG files are protected from being used by another sysop runnign my engine they can run the stock data i ship with the product or have toi make thgeir own, any pre-existing world would have to be formatted then the source would have to be modified to read in the new way, so we're saqfe there.
i mean hell you know me i been doing this any years if i were gonna use one of your areas i would say something cause my engine gives credit to everyone involved in its creation stages.
as for being called an idiot, nah hell im an idiot ask my ex wife, i use it loosely, if you were offensed my apologies but i didnt need another contraversey on my engine when shes so close to being released, me nor Rick like bad tastes in the mouth we want a clean release, especially when it will be the first big tele-arena in many years.
i am launcing my own public version on my server in the next week or so, so feel free to log in and check her out, shes been running very stable and is ready for heavy duty play.

Thanks for that Dan, I had no idea on the area names in TA97 or how mine got the names, that was many years ago. (If a mystic island pops up I would be shocked)

But yeah ron's work reads msg files which are easily converted from .mcv's

yeah its no problem, i shouldnt have jumped at ya its just i been defending this addon for a while now and now that shes like damned near done i wanna get some new stuff going.
the newest area with the glass dragons i just finished and let me tell ya shes pretty tough, it was designed to provide a challenge for groups not solo althugh i did carve a soloable path in there for the people that like to run solo.
its funny you have a mystic island, an area i designed years ago was an island you got to from a second dock in t1 and it had 8 dungeons on it you had to run all 8 and get a rune scroll from the boss at trhe end, each dungeon was about 900 rooms too.
anyways, after getting the 8th scroll you used your mysticstaff in the center of the island to teleport into a large dungeon of about 2000 rooms and you progressed through there until you beat al lthe bosses and got the orange rune.
good news was you could always teleport back inside using the mysticstaff, badnews was if you died, dropped it, traded it, or had it stolen you had to run the 8 minor dungeons again to fill it back up.

So, it looks like there is a playable beta up for TA Classic? But here's the real question... When will you guys make a deal so that I can buy it to run on my system? I purchased WG from Rick a couple years ago specificly to be able to run TA because you guys were saying that you were working on a deal to make it available...
Please let us know where you guys are on this deal so that we can start to purchase this game...
