What is *the* TeleArena to use for MBBS 6.25?

Okay, from my old setup I have a fully functional version 4, and a questionable version 5 beta. The 5 beta loads up but eventually overflows the stack.

So what should one use with MBBS 6.25?

Thanks!

Here ya go, this is what I ran/run MBBS 6.25 under. Using Dos 6.22, 3COM packet driver, CDrom driver results in 589,600 free mem under 1m.

Config.sys=

DEVICE=C:\DOS\himem.sys /machine:8
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
BUFFERS=65,0
FILES=160
DOS=UMB
LASTDRIVE=Z

Mike, how many inbound lines do you have configured? You can't run 64 telnet in lines in the 16meg scheme. You won't see the mem used change until *after* it has successfully allocated the IP buffer space for them.

@despain: I ran The Electronic Oblivion BBS (Olathe, Kansas) from 1991- 1994. I ...

It's MicroChannel, all bets are off when you enter that mystical realm. ;)

Heck, I just pitched some MC cards the other day, cleaning out my junk pile!

It was apparently just a bad GALMSG.DAT restore. I restored it off another tape and that one reindexed just fine.

Heh, fired it up and it started importing the Maillink packets. ;)

This backup unfortunately is back to MBBS 6.12, doesn't have all of the addons, etc. I assume it's probably pointless ...

Dspain, you're being far too practical here. ;) (and correct too, I might add)

I should also mention that Chris Combest, owner of Multi Service, is also a Lawyer by education.

I'm in to the main menu now. I've disabled all of the modem banks but I'm having Btrieve error 2s on Galmsg.dat The one I restored was about 75 meg, I'm trying a different backup. May just have to get a fresh file. ;)

Re: MBBS 6.25 on 66mhz 486 - BRequest issue.

Okay, I've obviously forgotten something. ;) I've reloaded the 6.2x setup from tape, onto a 486, 66mhz machine. I'm trying to get to the main menu just to see configuration stuff but cannot get past BREQUEST in the bbsbtr command inside BBS.BAT. It issues the command, the machine just plain *stops ...

For some reason I was bored and poking around nostalgically of late. ;) The Metropolis BBSes, software IPs and other such stuff have *NOT* been sold. I just got off the phone with Multiservice.

Contrary to the above quoted post, no one has purchased them at this point. Hasn't happened, dunno where ...

is it me or does it seem there was a metropolis bbs (if not a few) in each state during the 80's-90's :)

The "Metropolis BBS" that I built in the early 90s was spread across all of the cities of the (then) Big 8 and Big 10 college conference. While it was originally housed in Lawrence Kansas ...

Major BBS? that sounds vaguely familiar? ;)

Hello folks, my name is Gary Martin. Many years ago (longer than I'd care to remember) I wrote a BBS door game called Trade Wars 2002. It got quite a bit of use in the single line BBS world and eventually I teamed up with High Velocity Software to produce a Major BBS version.

At the same time I ...
