Hey guys,
after many many years on the sidelines, i've re-installed my MBBS 6.25 and i seem to be having an issue everytime someone makes a NEW user.. once all the questions are done, and the user ID is picked, password is done... the user has to hit RETURN to finalize the process... at this point the system just hangs for minutes on end... and eventually crashes... if i kill that channel after the user has been hanging forever... it gives me btrieve error 5 on bbsusr.dat....
so far i've tried starting with a fresh bbsusr.dat file, as well as bbsk.dat and bbsclas.dat ... but same issue...
any ideas on what i should try next ???
Thanks !!

The MicroKernel cannot add or update a record because the record has a key field that contains a duplicate key value for an index that does not allow duplicate values.
the stock system should not get this error.
read the catastro.txt file to see which modual is doing this.
hmm, I am not a mbbs expert by a long shot.Ckoi wrote:This is what is in the catastro.txt file
23-JAN-10 19:10:32 BTRIEVE INSERT ERROR 5 ON FILE "bbsusr.dat"
CH01=Warrior:0/69,MSG:bbssup.mcv/2
one of the developers will need to help here.
try reindexing the whole system from the utils menu.
also try coping bbsusr.dat to bbsusr.org and try installing a new blank data file. I think they are called *.vir so copy bbsusr.dat to bbsusr.org and copy bbsusr.vir to bbsusr.dat and see if you still get the error. also, what version is this system?
Re: FYI
next time run BBSRIDX from within the bbs utility menu.Ckoi wrote:Hey guys,
Just FYI... i solved this problem by deleting BBSUSR.DAT, BBSK.DAT and BBSCLAS.DAT reinstalled fresh copies of everything...
Then ran the integrity check on all files... and problem solved...
