How do you find act code of installed server

Post by Malakai »

I am helping another Sysop try to get another server going. The problem is that I believe he's lost his activation code, but he does have wg v1.01 dos installed on a PC from many years ago.

He has given me a 10-digit code several times and claims that's his activation code, and I haven't tried to install wg 1.01, but correct me if I'm wrong, shouldn't it be a 9-digit code?

Is there any way to extract the code from an installed bbs?

yeah, the code has nine spaces.
I don't think the act code is held anywhere after install. durng install it is decoded and the serial
number is the only thing saved. I think.

Yeah, I kind of figured that.. Would probably have to go through rick to find it, as I do have the actual reg# too. I told the guy just to zip his whole installed bbs up and send it to me and we'd go from there.

One other question. Would it be possible to downgrade wg1.01 to mbbs 6.25 using this zipped bbs? it probably wouldn't matter, because most mods, I assume, should work on either bbs but just mainly wondering.

thanks
