Looking for WG for sale!

Post by computerhavok »

Hello all!

I'm looking for a legit copy of Major BBS any version or WG 1.0 2.0 or 3.20 for sale. Would prefer someone that is selling the whole package, like extra addon modules and WG game modules.

I would prefer getting a copy of 3.20 and just pay the registration change to my name.

Thanks

Havok

PS: I have talked to Rick and waiting on a reply from him also!

I don't have any extra registration codes for sale right now. And right now, I'm not selling any new registrations, so the only way to legitimately become an owner of Worldgroup is to buy out someone's old BBS.

I _will_ upgrade you, so if you find any registration number from any version, and transfer ownership of it with me, I will upgrade you.

There is no legal or legitimate way to buy a new license to this software.

no legal way to buy a new license? wouldnt that mean wg is officially dead?
some old bbs systems i found out there are more expensive that some people can imagine

i bought
richcomm bbs
comet bbs
metropolis bbs <- not affiliated with current metropolis
cybercity cafe, mbbs 6.25 but over 20 addons
chat-city extremely large wg 2.0
gaso-line bbs

each of these from richmond,va and only got em cheap cause i knew the people that bought em personally and they were collecting dust, and of those systems only 2 were wgnt, the other nt ones i found were about as expensive as buying new ones from netvillage

it seems the more time passes by the more people just run cracked copies and dont care about legitimacy.

is there a rough time-frame on when you think you will sell new registrations for new sysops?

No, it does not mean it is dead, but it means that new licenses are not being made available at this time.

I'm trying to locate the folks behind Crystal Quill BBS in northern VA. You didn't know of that one did you?

Doesn't exactly make it right.

The #1 reason I do not is because I do not feel that I can provide adequate support for it on my own. I am exploring some options on that level and I've recently started talking to people that I believe that I can trust - and I'd want to actually advance the product enough so its not just a re-brand of Galacticomm's original work. There has not been a version released since Tessier's group owned the company. That's almost a decade ago.

yeah i totally agree and am behind you 100%, i see what you mean if you cant support it fully yet why open that can.
tessiers last release was 3.20 right? i think netvillage's spinoff was 3.30+

that bbs you are referring too i believe was in the fairfax area of vienna,va
theres another one up there too cupids playpen.
about 4years ago i contacted all my old people that used to run wg and got most of em dirt cheap and only ran into problems with metro and majormud which is fine im a tele-arena fan not a mud one.
lemme see what i can work out, the last venture i went after was firechat and they wanted 5 figures for a 3.12 system. cupid's playpen is still online
the bbs you are referring too crystal quill didnt they make some small addons? if its the one im thinking of i think the sysop used to work for aol out in fairfax.
i've moved down south now but my ex-wife still does some running for me finding old bbs sysops and getting what she can when she has time.
ill give her the name and tell her to see if we can come up with something.

i try to be careful cause most people download some worldgroup software use a keygen and say hey i got a bbs for sale, thats why i try to stay to the richmond area where i grew up cause i knew the bbs's and what nots and still have alot of the old addy's and phone#'s i can compare to info, ill see what i can do.

while i got ya in convo you by chance have a fix for NT wow or a dos copy of wow?

Tessier's last release was 3.20, but changes in 3.30 were in development at the time of the close. Most of it was some small patches and the big hijack of the naming stuff... putting their stamp on it.

What needs fixing in the NT version? It's been running on HS for a while.. I do have a DOS WOW... its ELWWOWD.ZIP on HS or Elwynor.

Error 12 is a file not found. When you got the VIR files, did you then run the EXE program included in the archive, and initialize all three games?

That will generate your .DAT files. You only get a 12 when you don't initialize the game.

Probably. But there'd still need to be some pre-work done around the license, etc.

exactly thats all we do in here with all the roadblocks you can run into with wg its good to have a large opened community to get things done.

and lets face it this is one of the only forum boards i have ever seen where questions for help arent returned with flames for asking.

Yeah, this forum and private emails/messages between some of us have been life savers for a past non-mbbs/wg sysop.

yeah one of the richmond tri-cities. dave bought it, it used to be metropolis bbs, then he took over with 16 dialup lines, it lasted about a year before sirus bought it and it fell.
