I have the Entertainment Teleconference, and I would like to use the Link-Up feature of it again. It has been several years since I've used that option or have seen it used, and roughly it was back in 1995 or so, when it was used.
I cannot remember how to do it. I know the password on Run of the Mill BBS, and I am trying to connect with another system so we can have a networked teleconference. Now, the problem is:
1. I can telnet to chware.com (my servers/domain, etc.,) hosting Run of the Mill BBS. And I can perform LINK [password] from Teleconference. All is fine there.
2. I cannot execute the LINK command on the other board, as I have read the GALETL.MSG file and it says its' disabled on that board. It says,
You can set the password required for incoming link-up
attempts. By default, no remote system can link with your
Teleconference. If you want other systems to be able to
link up, fill this option in with a password. (The link-
up password may not contain any spaces. Otherwise, this
feature will be disabled.)
LINKPW {LINK-UP DISABLED} S 29 Password for incoming link up
I have created a special account for the board, so I can perform a link-up. But my question is, do both boards need to have the same password or no? Because when I type "link [password]" it establishes the connection on the account, converts in to the link, but I don't see it on the other board, but I see what's being said on Run of the Mill BBS (ROTM)...

thats for dial-up not tcp/ip do you have a channel defined as a modem channel to use with this?Master wrote:I have the Entertainment Teleconference, and I would like to use the Link-Up feature of it again. Re: Teleconference Link-Up ...
MajorTCP has a channel setting calles telnet out channels. This allows you to make any module use telnet but the module thinks it is useing a modem channel. If you are running majortcp I will give you the settings. You can then link to my BBS to test if you want.

Re: Teleconference Link-Up ...
MajorTCP is way better then the AIO/ICO stuff. The AIO/ICO is slightly faster but MajorTCP has way more features.
I was one of the first beta customer for MajorTCP and I met Sylvain and his crew at one of the BBS Con's. It was in Tampa I think and they had a big 10 Year G-Comm party that was a blast! I still use Vircomm's mail and radius servers.
I have tried on more then a few occasions to get them to let me sell and support the products if they will not sell them to anyone.
Too bad.. With the full verssions of MajorTCP the dos products are better then the windows verssions.
