Quest For Magic NT Bug Confirmed

Post by Malakai »

As I suspected and stated before on these forums, I thought QFM was crashing my board. So, when I noticed some one playing it, I had to emulate them (yeah, shame on me, but have to find out where the crashes are occuring, because hardly any one emails you saying they crashed your board) to make sure it was QFM and to see exactly where it was occuring.

c:\wgserv\wgserver.exe - Access Violation. Attempt to read from: 6f6761aa
I believe this is the exact same error it got before.

This crash occured from this area:

You're in a large meeting center. This marble room was used to greet guests as they entered the lower levels of the Dungeon of Peyennuu. There is a small spiral staircase leading up in a corner of the room. A large archway leads to the north, and a small passageway goes off to the south. There is nothing lying on the marble floor.

these commands were used: dragmorp

this this message is shown:
...You start to sense a strange feeling throughout your body!
*** You are starting to change form!
*** You have become a large green dragon!

Player used the look playername command, and then the board crashed.

So, apparently, when the player morphs in to the green dragon, it gets some type of save/database/btrieve error....

I will be taking this game offline today some time, and I really need to test kyrandia as well, because I have all of the maps and cheat sheets for it. I don't know the QFM game enough to test it over and over, and it seems pretty involved to even get that far in the game, with out knowing it by heart.

i could be wrong but that attempt to read is coming from a message display error.
i had the same problem in arcticmud cause i had a %s with nothing pointing to it in arcmud.msg

as far as kyrandia are you using my dos->nt galkyr.dll or the stock etl release for nt?

cause i sent corey one but it was a bad build the newest is fine.

as far a QFM im gonna look into this today.

question, are you using GALQFM or ELWQM?

I honestly don't know which entertainment pack I have installed. It didn't come from corey though, but if there are several out there, maybe my kyrandia will work hehe.

As for which version of QFM I'm using, I'm not a coder, and my worldgroup board is 3.30nt. So, it must be elwynor version.

ok if your kyrandia came from an entertainment package for nt is should be fine unless its something in the 3.3
they did mess alot up with 3.3

QFM rick released the source to 2yrs ago ported it was GALQFM then when he built his catalog he released it ELWQM

It's ELWQM - that also reminds me, I should try mega slots and TFE on the 3.20 machine, because they both crash on my board..

text file editor.. it's for editing text files on-line.. not too big of a deal, but could occasionally be useful i suppose... when I enter the module from wg3.30nt, it crashes the board.

send me the error code, im setting up my nt server tonight. never could fix that error in dos.
so im gonna host it as an option from the nt menu tree called

Games Unavailable On NT

it runs fast when conencted through rlogin.

Wait, TFE gives you a crash too?

I can't replicate Mega Slots for the life of me, and TFE works on HS and on my test box. unreal.

(grumbles).

ELWQFM is simply Galacticomm's QFM NT code.. not that code that was going around the internet.

Interesting - Dan, you might be right about the %s thing.

Yeah, that was one of the first modules I put on my board. I didn't really complain about it/report it because it's not really as important as some of the other mods... It's just as easy to use notepad or edit heh...

I'll install tfe and megaslots on the infinity test machine and see if they work on it tomorrow (or later today, it's almost 3am here)

Well, I finally got to test those two out on the beta test server. Mega Slots still crashed, but TFE worked fine. Maybe TFE and wg 3.30nt just have some problems. Mega slots must be more widespread..
