most of my tele-arena mods are for ta1, i even did an unofficial ta1 for wgnt just for testing purposes but it did away with the editor the world was all imbedded.

i been meaning to get with rick and see about a development contract for ta2 but been real busy with a complete ico update for 3.3, a ton of wg2 mods including all new text variables for the wg2 ico, etc...

i did manage to do a ta2 player editor for wgnt that works pretty good.

i found a massive amount of bugs in ta2 so i halted any more progress on any mods for that til they get resolved.

i also been going over infinity complex and managed to work alot of the crashables out just need to finalize the codebase and send it off to rick.
im not even putting it online, ill let rick go over the code mods i did and infuse it himself since hes the copyright holder.

same with galactic empire.

ill let ya know as more develop.

IC:
I think infinity complex could become the smaller cousin of majormud. It's hard to believe how popular IC is still today, especially since virtually no boards have it. Visitors ask all the time when it's coming to my bbs or if there are any boards out there that offer it. I usually send them to Rick's board but they say after they run out of credits on his board, they can't ever come back to play or something.

TAII:
I knew you were working on some type of editor but didn't realize it was just a player editor. It'd be great if TAII just had its own more-complete embedded world in it... put the ta1 world in to taii or something..

yeah thats what im doing the only problem is it wont be a customizable world.
but then again who cares, thats what ruins great games today.
look at majormud, all there additions require getting into the databases or hexing, thats lame, play it as it was meant ti be played.

regarding IC, i could agree there, however i am working on a mud thats pretty damned intense.
it uses the same user friendly syntax and look of ta, but has the power and prestige of majormud, the rose, etc...

rather than hack and slash i wanted to bring a role-playing element to it with proficiencies, skills, quests, clans, its for wgnt and i have about another 2 days on it til i can release a public-beta which is basically the first town, so people can walk around,interact,etc.....

If there is one thing I've learned about BBSing in the last 10 years, it's that not many new games ever have a chance, no matter how good they are. Only one game that I can recall that has been made within the last 10 years is Ambroshia: Test of Time. Many people really got in to it, loved it, played it often, but guess what? The coders somehow fucked up and never fixed the bugs.

There was a pretty big synchronet board that I use to logon and play games on, and at least once a week, ambroshia crashed. After 3 or 4 hard crashes, every one quit playing.

The programmer's response was something like "Well, if I can't replicate the crash, I can't fix it." So, it never got fixed. He could have easily been able to replicate the crash if he had a bbs with a lot of players, but these people think they can do their beta testing alone or with only 1 or 2 people. They play the game for a day or two and say "hey, this game works fine."

This game had the potential, for whatever reason, to be the next top-dog of bbs gaming.

Realisticly, BBSes today mostly cater to the needs of old school BBSers between the ages of 30 and 55, who played game X, Y, or Z back in the day. Infinity Complex was apparently a part of mbbs 4.x or 5, up until 6.25 or so, probably before mutants, lord, or trade wars, at least their MBBS version(s).

While I don't exactly feel special with anything regards to infinity complex, many people do, just like some do with mutants, lord, swords of chaos, crossroads of the elements, or any of the other great games back then.

People want to come back, to relive those experiences, but the glory days could be over, because many people play alone.

i see what you're saying and im aiming to fix that. a guy logged on my bbs week or so ago said he had the IC source he was sending me, as soon as he does ill port it test it send it to rick for release. i have an extensive beta testing team, both my dev bbs's keep 18+ users online 24/7
when they dont play live they script.

so XanthaMUD has been debugged faster than any mud i've ever written, the crossroads project is going good too.

mutants i never tinkered with cause i have the dos version running just now got it online and i assigned 3 users to play that. "i cant rewrite it if i dont know how it was played"

this is the same team that ran through ta and helped me eliminate ALL the bugs so i got the staff and users just need to get some more sourcies and we'll be ok.

How many rooms is actually available in taii? I've heard that you can go through the whole game in a couple hours the way it is and that sean ferrel actually 'took the money and run' and never even tried to finish it.

How many times have I heard that?

correct ta2 is unfinished and extremely small.

TA2's world is too small... TA1's was better. However, I still do not have official virgin data files for TA1 as distributed by Sean. All I have are hacker copies that were from pirate distributions that believe it or not are bugged and don't work with the original codebase.

As for IC, it works GREAT under DOS. (and anyone on my BBS can play for free - just e-mail me there for more credits. Id on't get why people just give up)... but the NT port is bugged... the way he handled memory is different from the more "modern" games.

As with everything in my life, its on hold, due to a massive project at work.
