Web Response Form

Well you hit on a few things in the responce. The use of certain characters does effect its operation. Sometimes resulting in a crash. As I said Dspain and I treid to duplicate it a few months back but we could not.

From the crash logs of last nights response form useage I have managed to get the full string used to crash it. I will pmail it to Dspain and see if we can replicate it useing my alternate domain name on the backup server.

If your haveing problems with some modules in 3.2 try HVS's 8) top module loader. Its not registerable today but the demo days would probably give you a chance to figure out which module is the problem. Load mud 1st or last, its best disabled for testing problem modules.
Also tweaking w32mkset with increased memory may help.

wgserv.cfg will give same options only you haqve to manually move em around, load specific modules in a certain order you want them to load.
by default they load in alphabetical order.

DLL=ARCARN
DLL=ARCGLOB
DLL=ARCMUT
DLL=ARCTW2
DLL=ARCVERIF
DLL=ARCXMUD
DLL=GALACTH

so if i want tele-arena to load after tradewars II i swap places.

The module load order has nothing to do with the responce form problem, but some very usefull info re wgserv.cfg.

I have managed to fix the Web Responce form problem by eliminating the inbound traffic or specific characters used. Its been several days and I have watched a few IP's attempt to use the WG crash script or hack admin scripts but they no longer seem to work. You will need to have a enterprise class router and switch if you want to cure it. You will need the ability to create extreamly advanced rules.
If anyone would like the fix please feel free to pmail me.

I managed to decifer what you wrote in the responce form when you crashed it.

Intentional use of certian character to cuase it to crash. To answer your question Iceman (ods.ods.net) contained in that message:

NO I DO NOT HAVE A CRACK FOR HVS TW! nor do I know where on exists, most certianly not on my bbs.
IF YOU DIDNT BUY THE NT VERSION OF TRADE WARS FROM HVS IN 97 YOU CAN NOT BUY IT NOW!
I was lucky to purchase the NT version just as HVS closed the doors.

ps you do not want me to post the full contents of the GALCAT.OUT it would only further prove your malicious intent. :twisted:

POST EVERYTHING YOU WANT...

I am not trying to hack your damn system, I am not trying to crash your damn system, I am not going around looking for free software or cracked this and that... I wouldn't be PAYING for software if I was going to do that... whatever little obsession you have with me get over it already. Find a new hobby aside from accusing me of trying to destroy your world man... go take a walk outdoors...

every new attempt to screw with your system you seem to be blaming on me... when you've already said yourself more attempts have been made, clearly its not trying to be malicious, its crappy software that has bugs and whatever is connecting your system is no more aware of the issue than me... and its crashing it nothing to do with me... take a deep breath and move on man.

go ahead and post whatever you want... just make sure you post it exactly as it is, and not retype it how you want it to be... do that at least...

I could whine all day about the hundreds of attempts to find exploits in my system and blame anyone in particular including you for scanning my system... yes you... you scanned my system... should I start posting your email address and blaming you for every attempt on my system in the future... or should I realize there are millions of bots and infected machines out there randomly every day trying whatever they are programmed to do?

if I wanted to screw with people I wouldn't be sharing what I did with the megamud installer and winterhawk paths and trying to make it easier for people to logon any system who wants to use it... I wouldn't be trying to figure out who legally owns worldgroup so I can upgrade my license... I'd go downlaod a keygen or crack and use that instead of trying to LEGALLY do it... would you get off your high horse and find a new hobby where you don't feel people are attacking you at every turn in your life???

seriously man...

I am speaking of only specific actions traced back to your IP, despite it updates frequently. Other sysops have also confirmed malicous actions from a few of the same IP's.

If its such a "crappy software" why do you continue to run it? Runs great for me and is very stable despite the odd malacious person out thier.

Its not hard to figure out who owns WG, I could go on at great length places you could go or Banks to contact for verification. Thier are many post's in these forums with links already. I will save you some time.

Questman owns Worldgroup/Major BBS-Galacticomm, I am certian of that fact and have done alot of research several years ago. I am also sure he would be more than happy to assist you with licence count upgrades or registration of modules he owns rights to.

end of discussion.

Don't even start to say other sysops are saying I am hacking their systems now... give it up already... You're the only system I found with any software that I tried to signup and contact... so you have zero grounds to even makeup these rumors... once I found this place I was able to find about 90% of the software I was looking for in the file collection...

don't assume a single ATT ip address is responsible for 100% of ATT customers... because every day I myself get malware hitting my system from their customers... because customers on the same network are the most likely attack source for viruses... using your logic, I'm responsible for all the attacks on my own system on a daily basis...

Not sure what zboard is, got about 30 of those hits today, php I know its some web server software, got dozens of those as well today... I constantly have open telnet connections coming into the bbs from things port scanning and attempting connections, you should see the things those connection send thinking its a mail port or web port... robot crawlers from asia like mad, in addition to the usual search engines indexing the website... yeah every day tons of things I could blame but its the internet.

P.S. for those reading this with lots of images on their web server... you might want to routinely rename them and redo your html files... I have found thousands of hits on a daily basis for my old gif animations to my system, after renaming them I now get thousands of error messages in worldgroup... amazing how many people use links to your system.

(for fun you can change the images to something completely different so their webpages don't show the correct image and you can leave a little message to the link thief, I recommend editing a plain gif/jpg that advertises your bbs... hey thats the least they should do for linking to your images right.)

To be honest, the other sysop contacted me pmail to assist him with a few IPs that were attacking his WG BBS. Funny how they matched the same IP's and dates I traced to your IP"s. Pay the extra get a permant IP your bbs will run much better, then you could say "it wasnt me". it was.

:lol: :lol: rename images daily :lol: :lol:

Dont forget to edit all the webpage image name links in all the html pages "daily :lol: ", or you will get lots of errors messages becuase you renamed the images.

Ever think about takeing steps to reduce the active malware on your system as you describe above?
Add baidu.com into the domain name ban in your router.
Trace route where the traffic is from if its a search engine than make rule in robots.txt to control the search engines bot/spyder. Not all of them follow the rules.
One easy way to reduce the "eastern" image searches is by adding this to the beginning your robots.txt
