Well the end is near

Post by Montroze »

Since I cannot get my TA editor fixed (without Sean) and the main reason why I bought WG 2.0 or to find a completly clean editor (thanks Dan, but it was with errors) I will ask my Son if he wants all the goodies and if not I think I will just trash everything, don't feel like selling or ebaying it. But thanks to the many who have helped me in the the past - Rick and Dan and possibly a couple others, after my aquired brain injury. Good luck on the project Rick.

give me the play by play from the time you install it til you get your first error.

Well I was in meltdown mode, damm health issues. What I did was copy over files from an old tsgtae, msg I think, the rooms updated from the gold rooms to my 5000+ rooms, everything else checked ok, such as items, spells, sp. commands, everything except the lairs. When clicking on lairs I get a "Invalid use of a Null" looking at the .DBF their is 1 entry at the bottom of the file which I can't seem to make disappear - their is no data in their, everything is empty. (?) but the record count does show 500. I'm getting lost.

this is your best bet. install a fresh editor, compile MCV files, convert em to msg with MCVTOMSG.EXE copy those to WGSERV run the server, that is a fresh game.

since you have DBF corruption copying the DBF files over is not suggested since it will just contaminate your fresh working install.
alot of DBFs require certain data in other DBF's or it will cause an issue.

what would have been nice was an import utility to import MCV to DBF file but we were not that lucky.

the only other option i have for you is check out my new WG2 tele-arena engine with it's own editor, i have the domain ready telearena.dyndns.org and my first build will be on there soon.

that or just do it again fresh, but i wouldnt use the current broken ones, another option would be using DBFVIEW open the dbf and reinput the data exact, sometimes this fixes things by not adding certain garbage characters.
