Any one of us could do a better job Hosting the Worldlink Server. I have a Server right here in my Office that runs 24/7 and is sitting there doing almost nothing. I work out of my Home Office, so monitoring it would be a piece of cake.

My question is, why hasn't WorldLink Server been released for all of us to run if we want to. At least there would be Multiple WL Hubs to select from.

I know that there are at least a few of us that could support putting up a full time WL Server. Doing that might actually breath some life back ...

Check out this PHP Software called Dolphin 7. http://www.boonex.com Pretty reasonable and a ton of add-ons for it including a multi-user video chat module for about 300.00. They even have Mobile Apps available.

It's the Upstream that really counts if it starts getting a bunch of traffic.

Your Cable Modem Upstream is about 1/10th of my Dedicated and a hell of alot better than my Cable Modem Upstream

That Dedicated costs me about 450.00 Per Month and comes with 10 TB of Bandwidth and 16 IP Addresses

There are plenty of Open Source success stories. Take a look at DotNetNuke, Joomla, Boonex.

IMHO this should have been done years and years ago. It's sad to say, but right now for all intents and purposes WG is dead.

You'd be best to find them elswhere, the machine that has them on it is temporarly dead till I find 2 matching drives to get the raid 5 config back up and runinng. Didn't the Major Gateway Internet / UUPLUS Utilities do something like you are looking to do as far as the Offline Importing/Exporting? Probably not compatible with WG of course, but maybe it would be a starting point.

I personally think that the biggest problem all along that has led to the failure of MajorBBS/WG is the old Business Model that it is based on.

Look at all the Content Management Systems out there that are staying current with New Versions of the Baseline Software and constant Module Development ...

You just need the server software. It was never distributed and I'm not sure that I want to distribute it at this time. We're working on it - it's just finding an available spot. Newport's house is under construction and they cut his cable lines. So that all has to be repaired.

HOWTO:
- Just put the DLL from that ZIP file into your Worldgroup (NT) directory.
- Make sure your Worldlink configurations are set to UNRESTRICTED
- Make sure your Worldlink teleconference is set to go to the Worldlink channel by default for a user, rather than local
