Running WG2.0 (DOS)setup telnet client to connect to another server, when a user is on the other server it displays on WG online users as "Telnet Client" how can this be changed to say something else ex. "CoolMuD"
Re: The quick way to edit this...
If you're using Vircom MajorTCP, there is a command line option that will do this (at least there is for rlogin connections. Not sure about telnet). I think it is something like adding #CoolMuD after the connection info, or something like that. Check the Vircom docs to make sure.Drex wrote:Running WG2.0 (DOS)setup telnet client to connect to another server, when a user is on the other server it displays on WG online users as "Telnet Client" how can this be changed to say something else ex. You could use the rlogin client instead for login. then it would say Rlogin rather than telnetDrex wrote:Nope that command didnt work - and it would be like looking for a needle in a haystackmaybe Ill just rename the .mdf files.

Or try the rlogin module update from arcticzone (wg 3.xx NT only) that has a name switch to set the name when users view who's on. Its in the ISVARC file area on my bbs if you want to dl it.

He's using WG 2.0. I think Dan's modified rlogin mod is for WG 3.2. But I agree, rlogin is probably a better choice. And he can do everything he wants to do using it with the command line parameters that are already buiilt into Vircom.Stoneslinger76 wrote:You could use the rlogin client instead for login. then it would say Rlogin rather than telnetDrex wrote:Nope that command didnt work - and it would be like looking for a needle in a haystackmaybe Ill just rename the .mdf files.
